We knew a woman would win the 16th edition of "Survivor," but we didn't know which one until the final moments, last night. Parvati Shallow, who moved to Atlanta when she was 11 years old, took the honors. Shallow put herself through college, attending the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with minors in French and Italian. While in college, she was an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is a huge Bulldog fan! She joined WDEF News 12's Joe Legge today at Noon to talk about her victory.

Aug 25, 2008 - you rory, you are silly. your opinion is invalid because you support certain types of discrimination and not others. your position is hypocritical and is thus nullified. You can't say, well it's okay to discriminate this way but not that way. you lose.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - Parvati just ROCKS! :o) I don't support any kind of discrimination, silly man. Survivor = game of numbers. Women = majority. Men = minority. Gee, what a difficult situation.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - and there is usually only one jewish contestant on the show per season. How about if they formed a "no-jews" alliance. You said that would be offensive.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - No, i said I'd be offended. Big difference. And if you want to talk about majority/minority stuff, realise, that ladies are gentleman are equal. It's not ten gay/lesbian contestants and ten straight. It's not ten jews and ten no-jews. Their chances at the beginning are equal. Men just screwed up badly. Parv is awesome.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - fine..so from now on on survivor, the contestants should just vote eachother off based on gender, then race, then religion, then orientation. That would be a good show right?

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - But I'll give that the men did suck on this season. Did you like Natalie too?

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - Gay and Jews are real life minorities. You can't consider Survivor enviromnent as real life, because there is necessary to vote somebody off. They aren't equal with others in real life. And they aren't in show too. So it's big nonsense.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - And yeah, Natalie was also pretty good :o)

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - now I really don't respect your opinion. Not only was natalie not a good player and did nothing to advance her own status in the game, but she was also a nasty vile human being...much worse then even parvati. Sorry dude, your opinion has no value at all to me.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - Oh, that is killing me. My being depends on your opinion. Natalie was not so good strategic player as Parv, that is true. But i didn't say a word about her being good player or good person. I just said she was pretty good. I enjoyed watching her. When she convinced Erik to give her imunity idol... Oh My God! Even now i don't believe that! :o))) That's how enjoyable she was.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - I don't think so. It just wasn't a good season. What you had was a collection of bullies beating up on a bunch of half-wits who were outnumbered by three. The guys were pathetic and stupid, and the women were just nasty and abusive. They didn't just win the game, they had to do it in an intentionally nasty and hurtful way. They enjoyed the power they had. They didn't have to do that. But they CHOSE to be creeps. Thats really why it bothers me so much. no skill...just number power. Thats all.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - Fine. That is your opinion. You know mine. You wrote "you lose.". I don't think so. Thanks for nice chit-chat.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - you do lose on grounds of consistancy. You know that these people acted shallow and cruel in creating an alliance based on physical attributes. It's not right. You say, "it's not right to do that to jews or gays, but it is okay to do that to men". it doesnt make sense, and you would lose in a court of law.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - oh, and the show was BORING. It was such a crappy predictable season. Parvati was the only one actually doing something to win. I'll give her that, but everyone else was just a drone...waiting for the queen bee to choose their time. It sucked.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - I have never said that, are you sure you're talking to correct person?

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - So? That is not her fault, is it?

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - no, I won't hold her responsible for making the show boring this season. I hold her responsible for her behavior which I found offensive. I don't like Boston Rob and Amber either, or Jerri from the second one. A lot of people piss me off on the show. I'm just knocking this one like I have others because of that. People act like she did something great and she didn't. It was simple really. He gained peoples trust, then shit on them, and she kept getting rewarded for it. Don't like her.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - as far as the other thing goes, yeah you did say that one the other vid. You talked about people who've been oppressed banding together. You said women were oppressed so it was okay. I mentioned about other minorities being bigoted and you said that would be "offensive". Thats inconsistancy. I think it might have to do with you relating to the oppressed and theirfore justifying these womens behavior. I got that sense from you before. Gotta run now. later

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - And no one is blaming you for that. Just let us to have our own opinions and don't push in yours.

rory0 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - No, i said i'd be offended if I was voted off because of being gay and jew. I'd not be offended if it was 10 gay/jew : 10 straight/non jew contestants season, though. It's about having equal chances. There is usually only one gay player in season. There were rarely two (Ami and Natalie, as on Vanuatu Ami and Scout). But making 10 gay and 10 straight season is pretty bad idea. Because there is no 10 gay on 10 straight in real life.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - rory, lol...we're not going to find a common ground but listen...would you be offended if voted off because you were a man? It's the same type of thing. Also, your position presumes that people are naturally hostile to one another or friendly with one another because of superficial factors. I don't agree with that. I don't relate to people just because they are white, straight, male and American...I relate to them because of who they are as individuals. Maybe I am the minority in this world.

xraycat30 Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - Really, I'm not trying to convert you into a parvati-hater, I'm really just vehemently asserting my position as to why I was so angry at this girl and her crew. Don't take it personally. You and I disagree about this mentality in people to associate ourselves with people who are "similiar" to us. I think most people are in your camp, that is, the camp that finds commonality in superficial attributes. That is the way of the world, thats why no one understands my disgust with parvati. peace
